Apps For Readers
Going to the app store on your phone or the Google Playstore can be quite overwhelming, especially if you don't know what you are looking for.
Here is a quick list that I've compiled along with a short review on each app and how I use it...
1. Audiobooks By Nook - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE
Super easy to use, and great if you have a nook or even just a smart phone. Wonderful for people who prefer listening to audio rather than reading a physical or eBook.
2. Dreame - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE
User friendly, and fun for those who like to read independently written stories from people just like you. It has categories that range from romance to sweet and other genres that you might like to peruse.
3. Goodreads - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE
This is the app for all book lovers and those who love to keep track of their books. The database is huge and I love to find new books to place on my TBR shelf. Easy to use and fun too!
4. Libby - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE
If you own a library card, and your library participates with Libby and Overdrive, then this is the app for you! So many free resources, books, audiobooks, and more to choose from. It has a wide selection and best of all no charge to you. Only downside, you can only borrow 5 items at a time. Upside, it's unlimited.
5. Madefire - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE
If you are a comic book and graphic novel aficionado, then this is the app that was tailor made for you. It contains a bevy of free items and you'll be hooked.
6. Nook - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE with Optional In-App Purchases
If you own a Nook, then this is the app you MUST download. You can opt to read it on your smartphone or your Nook. Very user friendly and comes with a variety of free books that you can download. Seriously one of the best gifts I've ever received.
7. Scribd - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE with Optional Subscription (Not free)
I'm new to Scribd and I was skeptical at first. Usually I try to stay clear of apps that force you to subscribe and with good reason. But, there is a plethora of books that are available to you that are free to sample.
8. Wattpad - Available on the Android & iPhone
FREE with Optional Member Subscription (Not free)
Whenever I want to read books that aren't in a physical copy because they are written by a community of writers and people that aspire to become writers, I turn to Wattpad. There's something for everyone on this app. I don't really read it that much, but when I do, I know that I'm going to be preoccupied for a few minutes. Perfect for people who like to read, but maybe not that much.
Lastly, chat story apps for those who like to read text message based stories. I won't be reviewing these, since I've only tried out a few, but I'll let you know what apps are worth downloading and which are not. (Some even include videos and pictures) ...
1. Cliffhanger / Hooked / Lure / READIT / Tap / Yarn
2. TEXTY
3. Scary Chat Stories
4. Mini Stories
5. Stela Unlimited
6. WebTOON
7. Texties
8. StoryFire
9. Chat Text
10. FlashRead
DISCLAIMER: All of the above apps that I've mentioned are FREE. Some might have In-App Purchases, but you can decide what you want to do and how much you are willing to spend. This post is not sponsored.
