The Little Lady Agency (The Little Lady Agency #1) - Hester Browne

Book Synopsis: When sweet, naive Melissa seeks a job with her old Home Economics teacher she is halfway through the interview before it dawns on her that Mrs McKinnon isn't interested in her cookery skills, but is in fact running an escort agency. Melissa panics, but she needs the cash - and what harm can providing lonely men with stimulating conversation over dinner do? More exciting still, she'll get to wear a disguise...Enter her alter ego: Honey. As flirty and feminine as a Bond girl, as confident and sexy as Mary Poppins in silk stockings, Honey brings out a side to Melissa she never knew she had. A side that will get her into hot water, (and out of it) and that she'll never want to lose...

It is very rare for me that I happen to stumble across a book on a whim and I actually come to liking it. This is one of those occasions. I think that I found this book through one of my pins on Pinterest and intrigued, I decided to get it at my local library.

What I liked about this novel was the fact that the main character has such a unique side job, is it pure and admirable, most likely not, but is the book hilarious? Yes. Melissa and Honey, two peas in the pod, and happens to be the same person. Is she a certified nut-job? No, but she is going crazy with her new escort agency. On top of the responsibilities of her every day life, she also has the hefty task of paying back her father. Gee, it sounds like this heroine is in need of some saving.

This book really reminded me of the books by Helen Fielding, especially her book series about a spunky, lovable British lady named Bridget Jones.

I absolutely loved the characters, especially the relationship dynamic with Melissa and her two best friends Nelson and Gabi. The love story aspect plays a major role in the book and I was rooting for the main character Melissa/Honey the whole time. There's really nothing risque or too inappropriate in this novel and I appreciated that. What there is, is a load of humorous situations that Melissa faces and you'll laugh along with her and maybe even at her.

All in all, I adored this first book in the series and can't wait to go to my local library and pick up the second one in the series.
