Book Synopsis: Love food? Enjoy a nice glass of wine? How about a murder mystery?

Food blogger Willa Friday is excited to start training her new assistant to make recipes and style food. And she’s excited that A Dish in Thyme is finally making enough money to hire an assistant. But she has other obligations too, like the food photography for the annual Whine & Roses Benefit poster.

Dreading her meeting for the poster, Willa gets a surprise when she arrives for the meeting and the vineyard owner is dead. With her mother-in-law as the prime suspect, Willa reluctantly gets involved in the investigation. In the process, she learns of the many secrets the vineyard owners of Pear, California are hiding, which puts her directly in the killer’s line of fire. Included in this novel are recipes and food and wine pairing suggestions.

Quick little story time... I recently purchased a Nook Glowlight Plus and I absolutely love it!

Anyway, while I was browsing through the Nook Store, I found this little gem. It was probably one of the quickest e-books that I've ever had the pleasure of reading and it was delightful too.

What I liked about this book: the main character, actually scratch that, all the characters. There was no annoying hero or creepy villain, it wasn't cliche and I appreciate that. Willa Friday - a strange name, but an amateur sleuth and a professional food stylist was a trip to delve into. Her job food styling, the aspect really piqued my interests because it went into great detail about the process and how the world of fake food styling operates. Although I don't know how accurate the author's descriptions of that was, it was very interesting to read about and added that extra oomph to the story.

The overall story is a bit predictable, but I love the fact that there's a little unexpected twist and also there's recipes at the end of the book that I probably will end up testing out.

What I disliked about this book: NOTHING. I know, pretty hard to believe, but shockingly true. Honestly, I can't really complain much about this book without sounding too nit-picky or snobbish. The details were pretty relevant and current to today's day and age.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series which is Sushi, Sauvignon, and Murder. Sushi is one of my favorite foods and it will be fun to see how Jamie Lee Scott lays out another fun foodie murder mystery.
