The Girl On The Train - Paula Hawkins
Book Synopsis: The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. EVERY DAY THE SAME Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. UNTIL TODAY And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Rachel takes the train to and from work almost every day. Though it may seem like a mundane, serene and relaxing ride, that couldn't be further from the truth. She's a people watcher, specifically observing a married couple that she has named "Jason and Jess". Everything seems picture perfect, but is there something more sinister lurking in the shadows?
The facade has been dropped, the curtain has been lifted, and now everything seems to point in the direction of one guilty party and the wretched smell of foul play.
Is Rachel in too deep? Does she somehow have a motive or connection to all of this?
Those are the questions you'll be asking as you turn each page, slowly becoming absorbed into the book, and imagining how the movie could possibly capture all of the emotion, drama, and suspense.
If you're anything like me, you'll definitely go out to the movies right after you read the book. Fingers crossed that it will live up to the hype.
