Fixing Delilah - Sarah Ockler
Book Synopsis: Things in Delilah Hannaford's life have a tendency to fall apart. She used to be a good student, but she can't seem to keep it together anymore. Her "boyfriend" isn't much of a boyfriend. And her mother refuses to discuss the fight that divided their family eight years ago. Falling apart, it seems, is a Hannaford tradition. Over a summer of new friendships, unexpected romance, and moments that test the complex bonds between mothers and daughters, Delilah must face her family's painful past. Can even her most shattered relationships be pieced together again? Rich with emotion, Sarah Ockler delivers a powerful story of family, love, and self-discovery.
Life for Delilah Hannaford can be summed up in one word = rebellion.
When things aren't going so good for her, she falls into the wrong crowd and ends up spending the summer with her mother and her aunt in the house she used to visit.
If things weren't complicated before, they definitely are now. Delilah's broken pieces are on the verge of shattering again and even more confusing, she has to figure out how to find that glue that can somehow magically bond her family back together.
Patrick and Delilah were inseparable as kids and now there might be a spark of something more... if only she'd let him close enough for something to good to happen in her life.
The quirky characters and quaint town add to the combination of a crazy wild ride of story. I struggled with liking Delilah, I knew she had it tough, but her attitude needed a tune-up.
