Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies # 1) - Seth Grahame-Smith
The New York Times Best Seller is now a major motion picture starring Lily James and Sam Riley, with Matt Smith, Charles Dance, and Lena Headey. Book Synopsis: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield. Can Elizabeth vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.
I'll admit, I didn't plan on reading this book until I finished reading the original Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. I've seen this wonderful spin on a classic novel in circulation for the longest time and earlier this year it became a movie. A few of my friends have already read this book and fallen in love with it. Little did I know that I would soon follow in suit.
I breezed through this book, it was hilarious, the chapters were short and the illustrations gave a nice feel to the overall book.
There is a sequel and a prequel to this book, I'm not entirely sure if I would like to read it, but it's always there as an option to pick up on a rainy day.
If zombies and iconic characters are your cup of tea, then by all means, pick up this book today.
Hopefully soon, I can watch the movie and update this post with a quick review.
