Ten Thousand Skies Above You (Firebird # 2) - Claudia Gray
Book Synopsis: Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions. Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.
World-shattering. Dimension hopping. Paul and Marguerite! My favorite dimension hopping, earth-shattering, couple is back together again. Unfortunately, the bad guys are back as well, and they'll stop at nothing until they get what they came for. Paul is splintered, and Marguerite's the only one who can piece her boyfriend back together again. Things will never be the same.
Part of me wishes that Claudia Gray should've stopped at the first book, happy ending for everyone! Maybe in some alternate dimension she did, but this is reality and reality bites. I was excited to see that I jumped on this bandwagon at the right time, I just didn't anticipate that there would be a third book. Of course, I'm anxiously awaiting the third book in the trilogy and I'm trying to distract myself by reading other novels in the meantime.
Imagine how messed up the space/time continuum would be if the Firebird was a real scientific breakthrough invention. Well, imagine no more, because this novel is everything that you never knew you wanted.
Holy cliffhanger, Batman!
