Bookishly Ever After (Ever After #1) - Isabel Bandeira

Book Synopsis: In a perfect world, sixteen-year-old Phoebe Martins’ life would be a book. Preferably a YA novel with magic and a hot paranormal love interest. Unfortunately, her life probably wouldn’t even qualify for a quiet contemporary. But when Phoebe finds out that Dev, the hottest guy in the clarinet section, might actually have a crush on her, she turns to her favorite books for advice. Phoebe overhauls her personality to become as awesome as her favorite heroines and win Dev’s heart. But if her plan fails, can she go back to her happy world of fictional boys after falling for the real thing?

Everyone who buys this book, beware, the cover is so soft, you might be suckered into buying multiple copies - just to touch it.

People have stopped my reading progress just so they could feel it.

Seriously, I might even consider purchasing it myself.

Back to the review of this story, did Isabel Bandeira somehow stalk me? This was a fun book to read, and I can relate to Phoebe Martin on a personal level. A girl who loves reading books, knitting, archery, and watching Korean dramas - surely it's just a mere coincidence. I can't wait to read the sequel when it comes out next year... hopefully the cover has a nice feel to it just like this copy.

I found the humor to be clean for the most part and the silly idea of trying to get Dev to notice her was hilarious - armed with her notebook filled with "how to get the guy" book-style with Phoebe's own commentary and annotations. It was awkward and reminded me what it felt like to be in high school.

The pop-culture references were pretty current, so I didn't find them cliche.

My recommendation, just read it for the smooth as velvet cover - just kidding, it was a cute book - read it anyway.

P.S. NEVER EVER DUMB YOURSELF DOWN TO GET A BOY'S ATTENTION!
