Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman
Book Synopsis: Under the streets of London there's a place most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armour and pale girls in black velvet. This is the city of the people who have fallen between the cracks. Richard Mayhew, a young businessman, is going to find out more than enough about this other London. A single act of kindness catapults him out of his workday existence and into a world that is at once eerily familiar and utterly bizarre. And a strange destiny awaits him down here, beneath his native city: Neverwhere.
I actually found this book while I was on Pinterest browsing through books, when all of a sudden, I stumbled upon a list of books for people who enjoyed reading Harry Potter would read. Lo, and behold, this book quickly was added to my to read shelf and luckily it was already at my local library. I've read Coraline and I am a fan of Neil Gaiman's writing style, it would be very interesting to see a movie based on this book.
The Floating Market is a magical place that I would love to visit, yet at the same time, I'd rather not go there and just finish my stay in London in the Above - where it's cleaner and not so full of rats and psycho killers that would very much like to end my life.
Let your imagination come to life and journey through London, and find yourself in Neverwhere, where nothing really is as it seems.
Lady Door and Richard Mayhew are quite the unlucky duo, and reading this book kept me on the edge of my seat. There was an eerie vibe and dark suspenseful air that came along in the story, it was a bit vulgar and scary at times, but an overall winner of a novel.
