Let's Get Lost - Adi Alsaid
Book Synopsis: Five strangers. Countless adventures. One epic way to get lost. Four teens across the country have only one thing in common: a girl named Leila. She crashes into their lives in her absurdly red car at the moment they need someone the most. Hudson, Bree, Elliot and Sonia find a friend in Leila. And when Leila leaves them, their lives are forever changed. But it is during Leila's own 4,268-mile journey that she discovers the most important truth—sometimes, what you need most is right where you started. And maybe the only way to find what you're looking for is to get lost along the way.
I love taking road trips and reading... if you couldn't already guess.
So when I heard that Adi Alsaid wrote a book that combined two of my favorite things, I knew right away that I had to check it out from my town's local library.
Like the Northern Lights in Alaska, Leila's energy and attitude is both magnetic and eye-catching at the same time. I really thought that Leila was unique and her perseverance is so inspiring, it's not hard to imagine how easily Hudson, Bree, Elliot, and Sonia stuck to her like glue.
Reading this book was just like night and day, compared to Never Always Sometimes, a book which I didn't take a shining to. This novel made me realize that life isn't just about the destination, it's more about the journey. I know that I've probably said this for many occasions, but it's true, this book should be made into a movie. It's short enough to draw a box office audience in and long enough with a vibrant story to make them stay.
