To All The Boys I've Loved Before (To All The Boys I've Loved Before # 1) - Jenny Han
Book Synopsis: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.
Imagine having all of your secrets just out in the open. For Lara Jean Song-Covey, that's a reality, more like a nightmare. Every boy she's ever loved has a special place in her heart, and she copes with her hidden feelings by writing letters to them and sealing them in a hat box under her bed. The only thing that I found odd about this concept was that she addressed the letters to each guy, and actually saved each handwritten letter in a box. What was the function of doing that? Somehow, someone took those letters and then sent them without Lara Jean knowing, and out are all her secrets - it can only mean that something bad will happen. Little did she know, that those letters would change her life.
Jenny Han is the queen of trilogies, the only thing is, I wished I would've discovered this series later, because the third book isn't even published yet! I found this book on Instagram (which is where I get most of my book recommendations), and I had a feeling that it would be a great series - the hype was right! Finally, I was waiting for a book that featured a lead Asian female main character, and Jenny delivered. There's nothing more satisfying than reading a book with a MC (main character) that you can easily relate to. Her relationship with her sisters and single father was great, but I hated the fact that Josh was one of Lara Jean's first loves - I mean, couldn't they have made someone else her older sister's boyfriend. But, if she did that, I guess the story wouldn't be as interesting.
Warning: this book might inspire you to start writing letters to your past loves. Just a friendly tip, don't address the letters! Seriously, look what happened to Lara Jean... but if you do, you might get a chance with your own Peter.
