Open Road Summer - Emery Lord
Book Synopsis: After breaking up with her bad-news boyfriend, Reagan O’Neill is ready to leave her rebellious ways behind. . . and her best friend, country superstar Lilah Montgomery, is nursing a broken heart of her own.
Fortunately, Lilah’s 24-city tour is about to kick off, offering a perfect opportunity for a girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts. But when Matt Finch joins the tour as its opening act, his boy-next-door charm proves difficult for Reagan to resist, despite her vow to live a drama-free existence.
This summer, Reagan and Lilah will navigate the ups and downs of fame and friendship as they come to see that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking.
A fresh new voice in contemporary romance, Emery Lord’s gorgeous writing hits all the right notes.
Back of Book: Riding top down with Reagan. Beneath the summer sky. And I swear this car could almost fly. Sunglasses, a country song, and a steering wheel drummer. Y'all turn up the volume - IT'S AN OPEN ROAD SUMMER
This book was Emery Lord's debut novel and I loved reading every last word. It was beautifully written, had a great plot, and a fun concept. Can you imagine what it's like to have a best friend as a rising country superstar? No, I can't either, but this book made me daydream about how cool it would be to have country superstar Dee Montgomery as a best friend.
There was one thing about this book that confused me though, why was Reagan calling herself Charlotte? Other than that little issue, the book was flawless. For a debut book, this definitely hit all the right notes and was a perfect book for the start of summer which was yesterday.
For me, this book was more about the friendship between Reagan and Dee, and less about the romantic relationship between Matt Finch and Reagan O'Neill. And that detail made me love this book even more.
Infinity was always more than just a phrase between Reagan and Dee, and it was so wonderful to see a friendship that lasts through the ages.
If you're looking for the perfect summer read for that long flight to wherever, pick up this book immediately. The book goes by quick and before you know it, you'll be picking up the next Emery Lord book.
