Not That Kind Of Girl - Siobhan Vivian

Book Synopsis: Natalie Sterling wants to be in control. She wants her friends to be loyal. She wants her classmates to elect her student council president. She wants to find the right guy, not the usual jerk her school has to offer. She wants a good reputation, because she believes it will lead to good things.

But life is messy, and it's very hard to be in control of it. Not when there are freshman girls running around in a pack, trying to get senior guys to sleep with them. Not when your friends have secrets they're no longer comfortable sharing. Not when the boy you once dismissed ends up being the boy you want to sleep with yourself - but only in secret, with nobody ever finding out.

Slut or saint? Winner or loser? Natalie is getting tired of these forced choices - and is now going to to find a way to live life in the sometimes messy, sometimes wonderful in-between.

Lately, I've found myself successfully attempting to read all of Siobhan Vivian's novels and so far, I'm enjoying every last book. I wasn't expecting to like this book at all, it has slut shaming, jerks, and a little bit of a secret tryst. But, like all the rest of this author's books, I've been sucked into the writing style and was pleasantly surprised with the words and message that came out of this book.

Natalie is definitely a type-A person. She strives to get the perfect grades, run for president of the student body and finally get the boy in one fell swoop.

I admire Natalie, at first I thought she was a bit much, too pretentious, too stuck-up, and too much of a flight-risk. Fortunately, she went through situations that tested her character and changed her to her core. Connor Hughes was the unexpected love interest that loosened Natalie up, I feel that the story was executed well, although I could personally do without all of the sexual innuendos and the slut-shaming that went around in the high school.

Overall, the book was a guilty pleasure and I was embarrassed to be seen reading it in public.

This was a short book, and I recommend it for a rainy-day read because it was a short story, I thought it deserved a short review.
