Burn For Burn (Burn for Burn # 1) - Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian
Book Synopsis: Post-card perfect Jar Island is home to charming tourist shops, pristine beaches, amazing oceanfront homes - and three girls secretly plotting revenge.
KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend.
LILLIA has always looked out for her little sister, so when she discovers that one of her guy friends has secretly been hooking up with her, she's going to put a stop to it.
MARY is perpetually haunted by a traumatic event from years past, and the boy who's responsible has yet to get what's coming to him.
None of the girls can act on their revenge fantasies alone without being suspected. But together... anything is possible.
With an alliance in place, there will be no more "I wish I said..." or "If I could go back and do things differently..." These girls will show Jar Island that revenge is a dish best enjoyed together.
*Slow claps* They say that nothing is better than revenge. And when you're in the business of revenge, you'd better have good aim and people who have a target on their back... better watch out.
Lately, I've been really into books that deal with revenge. People who dish it out and people who are targeted. This concept was truly wonderful, I'm so glad that I picked this series up, after reading: The Broken Hearts Revenge Series by Katie Finn who is also known as Morgan Matson the self-professed queen of summer reads.
But, enough about that, let's get back to this book. This is the first book in the trilogy of the Burn series that is co-authored by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. The dust jacket cover is gorgeous, and just yesterday I checked out the second book in the series, Fire With Fire.
When's the last time someone wronged you? Did you want to get even? Or did you want something named Karma to give what's coming to them? These three girls, Kat, Lillia, and Mary definitely don't want to wait for Karma to dish out a much needed comeuppance. Instead, they find that joining together to take down their enemies is just what the doctor ordered.
Giving their foes a taste of their own medicine is exactly what Kat, Lillia, and Mary needed to do. The revenge doctor is in...
I thought that this book was not only clever, but funny, it did get serious at times, but had the right amount of drama I was looking for. Seriously brilliant writing, and the pairing of the two authors - absolutely a stroke of genius.
The ending just killed me, I wanted more, and I guess that means I'm already hooked on the series and shortly I'll be reading the next book.
This book will inspire you to go out and try your hand in the revenge game. Just don't get too many crazy ideas!
