The Unexpected Everything - Morgan Matson

When's the last time you've done something spontaneous? Think of a time when you just went with the flow instead of trying to control everything. Did you have fun? Was it unexpected? I bet you'll remember it for the rest of your life.

Book Synopsis: Andie had it all PLANNED OUT. When you are a politician's daughter who's pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.

Important internship? Check.

Amazing friends? Check.

Guys? Check (as long as we're talking no more than three weeks).

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.

Because here's the thing - if everything's planned out, you can never find the unexpected.

And where's the fun in that?

Morgan Matson, you've done it again! I love all of her books, and I especially loved the fact that she was able to connect some of her previous novels into this one to create brief cameos. Throw in a dog walking, scavenger hunts, trips to the diner, and pizza - an unexpected mix of activities, but they were woven so well into this book that everything just jelled.

Let's discuss the dust jacket cover... it's super cute and gives off a summer vibe. There's even a surprise if you take the cover off and look at the inside. I know that it's not summer yet, but it's right around the corner. This book was thick like a phone book, and it was an intimidating read. When I read through this book, I felt that I couldn't make a dent, even when I was on page 200.

Andie (Alexandra Molly Walker) was the epitome of a typical teenage girl. You know, the one with a group of best friends, a bit boy crazy, and a smart independent person. She was definitely one of those characters who went through a much needed attitude development. I enjoyed how her character blossomed and evolved through every page turn.

Clark Bruce McAllister. Three words to describe him: new fictional boyfriend. Come on, admit it. You've probably had a crush on a fictional character before. Morgan Matson created a real winner here. Smart, funny, cute, and a bit awkward at times, but Clark is definitely an all around good guy you'd want to root for.

If you're looking for a perfect summer read, or maybe even something to entertain you on a rainy day, The Unexpected Everything is everything you've never expected that you've wanted.
